Titchfield High School, founded in January 1786, is the fifth-oldest high school in the country. In the 18th century, such schools were created by benefactors concerned with educating the poor, typically children of poor whites, as there was no system for educating enslaved children. In 1883, the Jamaica School Commission assumed management from the school’s trust.

Titchfield made history by becoming the first school to win the Inter-Secondary Schools Girls Championships back-to-back in 1963 and 1964, its only two titles. The school also claimed victory in TVJ’s School Challenge Quiz in 2016, repeating the win in 2025.

It has six extra-curricular houses named after former principals or notable benefactors: Brown, Chin, Geddes, Grossett, Plant, and Sherlock. In the past five years, Titchfield has shone in academics, athletics, and recognition, earning a “GOOD” overall School Effectiveness Rating, producing top national CAPE students in Applied Mathematics and Electrical & Electronic Engineering Technology, and seeing excellent English language exam results. Today, with 1,949 students and 99 teachers spanning grades 7–13, it continues to be a symbol of academic excellence in Jamaica.
